Daniel M. FitzPatrick Named Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Samoset Financial Services
DARIEN, CT – Samoset Capital Group LLC announced today that Daniel M. FitzPatrick has joined the firm as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the firm’s subsidiary, Samoset Financial Services LLC. As CEO, Dan is responsible for providing strategic leadership and broad executive management to Samoset Financial, with a focus on personal trust/fiduciary matters.
Dan has over 20 years of experience in financial services and wealth management, with particular expertise in global private banking and in establishing, managing and growing personal trust/fiduciary businesses. Most recently, Dan served as Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup’s global personal trust business, Citi Trust, where he led a team of 450 fiduciary professionals overseeing more than $45 billion in client assets in 50 states and in almost 100 countries. A member of the Citi Private Bank global management team, Dan led the integration of the domestic and international businesses to create a global trust capability and drove the domestic trust business to record levels of revenue and profitability. Prior to joining Citigroup, Dan established and served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Goldman Sachs Trust Company, N.A., a nationally chartered bank providing a full range of personal trust products and services to Goldman Sachs clients in the United States. Under Dan’s leadership, fiduciary client assets under management grew to more than $1 billion in less than four years. Dan was previously the head of JP Morgan’s Global Fiduciary Management business, where he oversaw a worldwide staff of 200 professionals responsible for administering onshore and offshore fiduciary accounts valued at more than $21 billion on behalf of clients of JP Morgan’s Private Bank. Dan began his career as an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he specialized in advising corporate clients on banking, securities, corporate finance, private banking and related matters.

Dan has long been an active participant in trust industry organizations, having served on the Executive Committee of the Trust & Investments Division of the New York State Bankers Association, the Executive Committee of the American Bankers Association’s Trust Management Association, and as Bank Representative (for each of JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs & Citigroup) on the Trustee’s Committee of The New York Community Trust. He is also a Director of Greenwich Emergency Medical, Inc., a former Trustee of The HealthCare Chaplaincy and a past member of the Board of Councilors of the American Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, USA.
Dan is a graduate of Dartmouth College (cum laude, with honors) and the Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. Dan is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, and is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and The Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
